After revealing that the new SUV will go on sale in the last quarter of 2019, Aston Martin has revealed ‘official’ spy shots of the DBX SUV. The SUV looks almost ready for production right now and the camouflage, though comprehensive, has left little for the imagination.
The new gaping grille inspired from AMR takes centre stage like all new Astons but is overshadowed by the bulk surrounding it. The large bumper, those feline headlamps and a swooping hood make it even more aggressive to look at.
The profile gets a raked windshield, sloping roofline and a rising hemline – a prerequisite of all new coupe SUVs but Aston Martin has lent its unique touch with a deck-lid mounted spoiler that might remind you of some yesteryear Porsches. With minimal overhangs, the SUV should offer a decent approach and departure angles, but this is more of a sporty-soft-roader meant for fast trails rather than deep slush and rocks.
The tail gets a quad light setup and we know for sure that Aston Martin is hiding most of it under the contours for the image looks too plain to be an Aston especially after the dream job they have pulled off on the new Vantages. Twin spoiler, dual exhausts are visible and we do expect a rear splitter.
Under the hood, it is being said that the DBX will get a Mercedes-AMG sourced V8 and of course an all-wheel drive with all the drive modes that you can think of. It will compete with the Lamborghini Urus, the Maserati Levante, the Porsche Cayenne and other sporty SUVs.
