-New record for Indian car market
The third generation Maruti Suzuki has broken a new record in the Indian car market by achieving the one lakh sales mark within just a 145 days of being launched. This should really come as no surprise as the Swift has been the car that propelled Maruti Suzuki into the big league when it was launched in 2005. To give you an idea, Maruti Suzuki had sold around one lakh cars from 1983 to 2005 and then sold another one lakh cars in the next two years!
This third generation Swift was launched on February 8 and is offered with both petrol and diesel power. There’s an evolutionary design, new cabin and for the first time both petrol and diesel power get an AT option which in this case is Maruti’s AGS technology. There’s a whole lot that we have already done with the third generation Swift and you can read about it here or watch our video at the bottom of this story.
Commenting on the achievement of the landmark, R S Kalsi, senior executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki said, “We are excited to share that the iconic Swift has yet again proven that it is the heart throb of Indians by setting a landmark of selling over 1,00,000 units in just 145 days. We would like to thank all those who chose to buy this 3rd Gen Swift, which offers both power packed performance and advanced safety. We are also grateful to our millions of Swift patrons for their continued trust in Brand Swift. This instant connect of new Swift with the customers is delightful for us and we remain committed to bring quality products with superior features in the future as well.”
