Third generation Renault Symbol cabin revealed

The third generation of the Renault Symbol has been revealed in a new set of spy images ahead of its debut later this year. This is essentially a Renault-badged version of the latest Dacia Logan and will be sold in markets where the Dacia brand is not retailed. This is expected to be the replacement for the Scala in the Indian market but by virtue of being a smaller car as well as not being a rebadged version of a Nissan model will be priced cheaper. It will be a C-segment sedan and take on the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna. The Symbol will be one of the five locally produced models for the Indian market that Renault plans to introduce by 2020.

These new set of images reveal the cabin of the Symbol which by the look of things is quite similar to that of the India-spec Duster. In fact, the entire layout right down to the instrument cluster appears to be the same further indicating the importance of this model to the Indian market. However, while this model sports and orange backlit 2-DIN music system, we believe that the Indian market will get the touchscreen infotainment system from the current crop of Renault models. The cabin appears to be trimmed out in black and grey with glossy finish for the centre console.

In the pictures we can see that the car has adapted the latest Renault face which includes things like the signature Renault logo, LED DRLs and fog lamp housing with black inserts. The side profile is straight cut three-box sedan while the rear appears to be minimalistic with some chrome detailing above the number plate holder.

This car is expected to be offered with the 1.6-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel. We believe that an AMT option will be offered across both model in addition to a five-speed MT for former and a six-speed MT for the latter.
