Looking to compete better in the booming compact sedan segment in China, General Motors has launched the new Chevrolet Sail in the local market. Prices for this new model start at 59.900 yuan (Rs 6.12 lakh), going all the way to 118.700 yuan (Rs 12.12 lakh).
General Motors has launched this new model as the Sail 3, with ‘3’ referring to the third generation version of the compact sedan. However, it is not an entirely new model and merely an updated version of the second generation Sail introduced a few years back.
On the outside, the new Sail gets a completely redesigned fascia with a new set of headlights, larger grille, new alloy wheels and wing mirrors. The exterior upgrade is complete with new tail lights and a restyled rear bumper. Inside, the basic layout of the dashboard pretty much remains the same although Chevrolet has reportedly improved the quality and added new features. In China, the new Sail is available with either a 1.3-litre or a 1.5 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with 99bhp and 109bhp respectively.
The new Chevrolet Sail sedan is now on sale in China. As for the Indian market, GM India will continue to offer the second generation model. The India-spec car, in fact, was recently given a healthy dose of upgrades. For full details on the updated model, head over to our road test report by clicking here.
