Earlier spied testing in the US, the long wheelbase version of the Volkswagen Tiguan has been caught on test again. This time around the prototype is thinly disguised and shows off the crisp and clear lines of the LWB model. The vehicle is expected to officially arrive at China’s Chengdu Auto Show in September.
For this LWB iteration, Volkswagen seems to have extended the rear door by a fair bit. The vehicle, in all probability, will have a seven-seat configuration.
As for the all-important launch, the Tiguan LWB will go on sale in China by year-end and will hit production in the US in the first quarter of 2017. VW is likely to call it Tiguan L or Tiguan XL. As for the Indian market, Volkswagen India has confirmed that the regular 5-seater Tiguan will be introduced as a locally assembled vehicle by early next year.
