- V MT variant priced at Rs. 8.04 lakh
- Available with both MT and AT options
In most of our images of the third-gen Amaze, the car that you see is a top-spec ZX CVT/MT model with all the bells and whistles that Honda offers for this new car. But what if you want to buy the most basic third-gen Amaze? Well here is what you will get if you go in for the base-spec VX MT/CVT variant.
Exterior
The base-spec V MT gets the LED headlamps and DRLs, chrome strip above the grille which has also been painted in chrome as compared to a blacked-out unit of the top-spec models. In profile you get 14-inch wheels with wheel caps and body coloured door handles while at the rear there is no change in terms of design or elements. Honda has got rid of its variant badging and now there is only the word Amaze written on the right rear.
Interior
The cabin is a beige and black affair with all the same design elements as the higher-spec models. In fact, Honda has kept the differences down to the feature list rather than overall design elements. In this base model, you get AC instead of climate control, no wireless charger, analogue instrument cluster and a single-tone colour scheme on the steering wheel. The second row is unchanged save for the AC vent console, this is a feature only available from the VX variant onwards.
Powertrain
The only powertrain on offer across the variant range is the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol producing 88bhp/110Nm and can be had with either a five-speed MT or a CVT of which the latter is being offered across the range for the first time. You get also get a CNG option but it’s a dealer-level fitment and is officially recognized in Honda’s warranty package. The CNG kit is priced at Rs. 1 lakh but is variant agnostic and can be fitted to any MT variant.
Rivals' pricing and variants
When looking at the immediate competition, you get the Hyundai Aura SX MT, Maruti Dzire VXi MT and the Tata Tigor XZ CNG MT for the price of the base variant of the Amaze. When comparing all of these variants you can see that the Amaze V MT comes in at a higher starting price but offers a similar level of features.
