For what can be called a gaffe by Lamborghini, the video of the Centenario that was uploaded remained public for some time, enough for us to get a glimpse of the machine. And no, we have no complaints. The Lamborghini Centenario, with looks like that, will certainly be a showstopper at the Geneva Motor Show.
The Centenario has been built to celebrate the hundredth birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the man who got the Italian tractor maker to build sportscars. Based on their flagship supercar, the Aventador, 40 examples of the Centenario will be built – 20 coupes and 20 roadsters. We love the way this car looks – not as overtly loud as the Veneno but not subtle by any means. Driving by in one of these will certainly make heads turn and it doesn’t matter if you are driving by in Beverly Hills or Central London in summer or the Marina Bay.
And then you have the 6.5-litre V12 belting out 770 horsepower. Going past the 100kmph mark in just 2.8 seconds and 0-300kmph in 23.5 seconds the Centenario gets a top whack of over 350kmph. This is hyper-car territory and the Centenario is possibly the only pure naturally-aspirated powertrain to be in there.
Well, if you are looking for the price tag of this car, you will be disappointed. Not because you will not be able to afford it, but because even if you do, all 40 cars have already been sold out to Lamborghini connoisseurs.
