Audi had unveiled the new generation A5 Coupe and its performance version, the S5, globally on June 2. While we already have the older generation S5 in India, Audi has been readying itself for the launch of the four-door version of the new generation A5, evident from the rigorous testing of the sedan.
The Sportback test mules that we have spotted sport a different headlamp design as compared to the Coupe. It does get LED headlamps of a similar shell-shape but the internals along with the DRLs have been tweaked. This testing is a part of the global testing schedule for the four-door coupe before its global unveil which is expected to happen soon.
The Sportback gets five-spoke alloys as against the multi-spoke alloys of the Coupe and also runs higher profile tyres which will impart a more comfortable ride. As for the interior, we couldn’t get a peek inside the car, but, an informed guess would mean the inclusion of the Audi Virtual Cockpit and the new MMI touch in the equipment list.
The A5 will ideally sit between the A4 and the A6 sedans while offering a more stylish option for those who want to go beyond the regular cars. The Audi A5 will certainly get the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine developing 177bhp of power with the 3.0-litre V6 with the Quattro also being on the cards.
