Chevrolet introduced the Z06 to the automotive world through the 2014 North American Auto Show in Detroit. Now, the first production car has been sold through an auction in Florida. The 2015 variant of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe was auctioned off for a whopping one million USD (approximately Rs 6 crore).
The money that has been raised from this auction will go to the Karmanos Cancer Institute's infusion center which will invest the money in chemotherapy treatments for patients. The Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, where the car was sold through a bid, took place in Palm Beach, Florida. There was quite a lot of excitement at the Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction especially when Rick Hendrick submitted the winning bid. Rick, NASCAR motorsports team owner, has previously bought the first 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe, the first 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible and the first 2012 Camaro ZL1. He has a huge car collection and has bought a number of new vehicles at such auctions.
Dan Ammann, President, GM, said, "We thank Rick Hendrick for his ongoing, generous support that will help Karmanos Cancer Institute provide better care and treatment for cancer patients. We are humbled by all those who are supporting the Annual Dinner and who are giving generously to help us exceed last year's fundraising total of $2.5 million."
