Audi TT S Line competition
- Audi will be offering driving enthusiasts an opportunity to drive the R8 V10 at the Buddh International Circuit, under their new programme called the Audi Sportscar Experience (ASE). The German luxury car maker plans to conduct one event every month till the end of 2012 and the packages for the same will be priced between Rs 98,000 and Rs 1.25 lakh.
- After launching the new compact SUV, the Duster, Renault now plans to launch a C-segment before Diwali. Although no details have been revealed by the French car maker as yet, we are pretty sure that this is the rebadged Nissan Sunny with premium features and certain changes to differentiate it from its Japanese counterpart.
- Mahindra has been named as the fastest growing automotive brand in the passenger car and Light Commercial Vehicle segment in -South Africa. The Utility car major recorded a growth of 124 per cent selling 1,563 units. Tata owned Jaguar stood second with sales growth of 94 per cent.
- Inspired by its success with the South African market, Mahindra has introduced range of Utility vehicles in Kenya. Mahindra unveiled the XUV500 at a function in Nairobi yesterday and has tied up with a local dealer, Xylon Motors, to offer the XUV500, Scorpio, Pick Up range, Maxximo min-truck and the Genio.
- Volkswagen is finally (officially) taking over Porsche on August 1. The takeover process which began back in 2009 was stalled due to the litigation against the sportscar maker; but now the road is cleared and both companies can proceed to building cars together – which they did anyways.
- Chevrolet is recalling the fleet version of the Captiva crossover in US over a faulting parking brake cable that might not be fully seated. About 2,000 units of the Captiva are affected by this issue in US. We are yet to hear from General Motors if the fault affects the Captiva sold in any other marker including India.
- Audi has introduced new S Line Competition version of the TT, which looks a bit more aggressive with new bumpers, xenon headlamps, rear diffuser, exhaust finisher and few other sporty upgrades. The kit is also available for the existing models producing up to 221bhp. Unfortunately, we only get the 3.2-litre V6 version of the TT here and hence these are not of any use to us.
- Ford will launch the new EcoSport in Brazil next month – between August 3 and 5. The EcoSport will be sold in over 100 markets around the world and we are eagerly waiting for its India debut. Source says that the EcoSport will be available here only in 2013; however, we think that the company may re-schedule the launch now that the Duster is here and the five-seater Mini Xylo is coming next month.
