    • Maruti Suzuki India chairman, R C Bhargav, described labour riots as ‘class attack’. In a statement to a TV channel he said, "These were left-wing extreme elements who incited violence at Maruti. It was a conspiracy which was kept within a small group of people". In response to these claims, government has confirmed that it will conduct a thorough probe and find out whether the July 18 violence had involvement of any extreme left wing or Maoists elements.
    • Audi India will launch the 4.2-litre TDI Quattro variant of the A8 today. This is the most powerful diesel version of their flagship sedan, with a V8 engine producing 348bhp and 800Nm of torque.     • Autocar India has reported that Honda has decided to discontinue the D-segment sedan, the Civic, here once the current CKD packages and stocks with the dealers are exhausted. Low demand for the petrol cars is the reason behind the decision – Honda is about to stop builindg the car and might wait for relaunch till suitable diesel engines are available in India.     • The country’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, may increase production of diesel cars at Gurgaon facility, to compensate for the shutout at the Manesar plant. The company manufactures the diesel Ritz and new MVP, the Ertiga, at Gurgaon plant, as the production of the Swift, Dzire and SX4 will remain shut till the Manesar plant is up and running again.     • Volkswagen is now offering the automatic transmission for their smallest hatchback, the Up!, in UK market as an additional extra on order. This is not the dual-clutch gearbox we regularly see on the VW cars, but a simple 5-speed AT that will cost extra 595 Pounds (approx. Rs 51,000). The Up! is currently been tested for India, but we don’t think this version will be offered in India at the time of the launch.
    • The 1-litre 3-cylinder Ford EcoBoost petrol engine used in the new compact SUV, the EcoSport, has power rating of 123bhp. If you think this is the maximum output for a 1.0-litre engine, you will be surprised to know that a company called, Superchips Ltd, has developed a new ECU remap for the EcoBoost engine that adds an extra 16bhp and 36Nm of torque. The remap is available on the firm’s Bluefin ‘Plug-in and go’ DIY programming handset and comes with warranty. Click Here For More
    • We know that BMW is one of the main sponsors for the 2012 London Olympics and has been using this platform to promote many of its products, including the i3 and i8 electrics cars. However, maximum mileage has been gained through the British brand, Mini, and several of Mini range cars have been used for various activities at the games. And now to milk the opportunities further, BMW is using the remote control Minis – budded as “Mini MINI” to retrieve thrown javelins, hammers, shot and discuses at the London Olympics.
    • The “Green Hell” in Germany – Nurburgring circuit, has finally received assistance from the government. The local newspapers have reported that the German state of Rhineland-Palatinateis set to assist ‘the Ring’ with USD 312 million loand guarantee to keep the legendary circuit afloat.
