- Gujarat High Court has asked the state government to convert all the four wheelers in the state to CNG in a span of one year. The decision has been made with the clean heart – to improve the air quality in Gujarat. But implementation won’t be a easy task, considering companies will have to set up more CNG stations, manufacturers will have to fit CNG to every vehicle and govt will have to initiate campaign to convert thousands of vehicles on Gujarat roads to CNG. We are sure there will be a appeal against the rule and further clarification will be available soon.
- 2013 Mercedes A-Class that will be available in the European market later this year, had already created quite a stir. It is reported that the company has already received well over 40,000 orders even before the launch. The front-wheel-drive smallest Mercedes will also be available in India by mid-2013, through CKD operations at company’s Chakan facility.
- The Jaguar C-X75 hybrid that featured twin-turbines in concept form, has now mellowed down and become real and tangible. The Autocar UK reports that the production version of the hybrid supercar will feature a 1.6-litre inline-four producing more than 500bhp. The numbers look a little too much for the tiny engine, but will reported be built through twin-charging (both turbocharger and supercharger) and redline at 10,000RPM.
- Mahindra Reva NXR plant has received the first-ever prestigious ‘Platinum’ rating in India, from Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). This new Reva plant near Bangalore is expected to have a capacity to produce 30,000 electric vehicles per annum and should be operational next month.
- There are reports that BMW will sell its new green cars, i3 electric and i8 plug-in hybrid, online post launch next year. The cars are on display at the 2012 London Olympics, part of its sponsorship deal. Bloomberg says that the order processing for these models will be part of the BMW configurator online, in Europe.
