- Mahindra Verito facelift launch today. - Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that they have run out of stock of the Swift and the Swift Dzire at its Manesar plant. About 10,000 cars are in currently transit and will be delivered to dealers across India shortly; however, the company is not sure when the production will resume.
- Jaguar Land Rover has announced 1,100 new jobs at its Castle Bromwich facility in UK, to build new Jaguar models like the XF Sportbrake and the upcoming F Type sportscar. Tata owned luxury brand has come a long way in past four year under new ownership – from plans to cut staff and shutdown facilities in 2008 to adding new assembly lines, setting-up new plants, Chinese JV and possible new setups in India and South America.
- Sixty three year old, Thomas Chacko, from Kochi has successfully completed a 78-day expedition across India in a Tata Nano. Mr Chacko covered 26,500 km, driving through capitals of all states and also union territories, along with visiting Tawang in the East, Kanyakumari in the South, Dwarka in the West and Kargil in the North.
- Volvo plans to launch an entry-level sportscar in India, in the coming months. The company has confirmed that the car will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September, and we are expecting it to be the new V60 Wagon with the pricing of around Rs 25 lakh or may be the XC40 compact crossover to compete with the Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
- Aston Martin has announced production cut of its very exclusive V12 Zagato, from 150 units to 101 units. Each of the V12 Zagato examples require 2000 man hours to build, of which 100 hours are spent on paint job alone. Exact reason for the step has not been confirmed, but this will make the new car even more exclusive and possibly a bit more expensive as well.
