- It seems that the labour issues at the Maruti Suzuki facility won’t be over anytime soon. The Haryana police have swung into action after the death of the HR general manager, Awanish Kumar; with the special investigation team is combing the surrounding villages for suspects and over 90 workers have been arrested. It has also been reported that thousands have fled overnight due to fear of crackdown. Haryana government officials are seriously considering shutdown (prolonged lockout) of the Manesar facility.
- The new Mercedes B-Class sports tourer was unveiled at the Buddh International Circuit yesterday. The B-Class will be on sale in September-October, but might initially have a price tag of over Rs 25 lakh, as the puffed-up hatchback will come as CBU in the beginning.
- Mercedes Benz is planning to invest additional Rs 400 crore in its facility in Pune, to up the capacity of its assembly line . The German car maker plans to assemble few more models in India including the new ML, GL, B-Class and few others that have not been announced in India as yet; these include models like the A-Class, CLC and CLA. The additional investment will take Mercs capacity in India to 25,000 units by 2015 from current capacity of 10,000 units per annum.
- Maruti is not the only car maker suffering due to labour issues at this moment. India’s second largest auto company, Hyundai, is also facing trouble in South Korea with the workers going on strike demanding higher wages. However, the Korean manufacturer has confirmed that the strikes won’t affect their operations in India
- Lamborghini is celebrating the significant landmark of building 1000th unit of the Aventador in just 15 months of production. That is quite an achievement for a vehicle with such a price tag - the Aventedor’s predecessor, the Murcielago, took almost three years to reach the same number.

- Honda has issued a global recall of the 2012 CR-V and 2013 Acura ILX models to correct the issue with their front door latches. The recall affects over 1,72,000 units sold globally, but not any of those sold in India.
- The small British sportscar maker, Lotus, has pulled out of the 2012 Paris Motor Show. After been resold to DRB-HICOM, the Norfolk-based company is planning to utilize its limited funds on new developments and is cutting down all the excess costs.
