- Labour unrest has broken out again at Maruti's Manesar plant - this time one person has died, 85 injured and 87 arrested. The plant is currently shut down.
- Ford has expanded its engine capacity at its Chennai plant. The flexible line produces both petrol and diesel engines for the region.

- Honda has revealed more information on the upcoming European CR-V. For the first time the 2.0-litre petrol will be offered with a four-wheel drive option. Stop-start technology is standard on all manual variants, along with a revamped features list.
- Honda is reportedly considering the possibility of developing a small SUV on the Jazz platform. Considering the success of SUVs such as the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and even excitement surrounding upcoming models like the Ford EcoSport, it might not be a bad idea at all - only we hope that Honda's upcoming diesels manage to make their way into the small SUV from the beginning, should it ever see the light of day.
- In yet more Honda news, the company has shown its new HondaLink infotainment system for the US market, which will debut in the 2013 Accord. It uses the driver's smartphone data connection to access the internet and telecast music, news and podcasts.
- GM vehicles enabled with OnStar navigation in the US can now be rented out to RelayRides subscribers. It is a simple car-sharing service that allows an owner to earn money through renting their idle car out. We aren't sure how well a system like that will work in India, though...
- Rumour has it that Mercedes is preparing a diesel-powered version of the SLS AMG for display at the Paris Motor Show in September. No word yet on what engine the SLS AMG diesel will get - assuming of course that the rumor is part fact.
- The world's fastest electric supercar will make its debut at London in September. Called the Rimac Concept_One, it has the equivalent of 1088bhp and should get to 100kmph in 2.8 seconds, figures similar to the Bugatti Veyron.
