The new two-door coupe from Mercedes-Benz, the SLC was spotted testing again in Europe, this time in a different attire from the one seen previously. However, this new black and white avatar leads us to believe that this 2015 variant is smaller than the SLS.
The SLC, codenamed C190, with its small proportions is speculated to have a wheelbase of 4,500mm. This makes the car 140mm smaller in length than the outgoing SLS car. The height and width remain the same as its elder sibling. Though it takes a lot of features from the SLS, there are reports which suggest that this new variant will not replace the SLS. It is expected to be sold along with the outgoing SLS version.
Not much could be gleaned, but the prototype’s rear spoiler seems interesting. This could be an electronically controlled one which gets deployed as soon as the car goes beyond speeds of 75 mph (121kmph) to keep the car stable. Comparing the several shots of different prototypes of the car, we also get to know that the car is sporting different exhausts.
Regarding the engine specifications, no particular details are available but since the car has been spotted with different exhausts we can guess the car to be powered by not just a single engine variant but some newly developed engines. Reports suggest that a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine seems to be in the making which will produce 493bhp. The upcoming C63 AMG might also be equipped with this engine.
Mercedes-Benz launched the SLS AMG GT Final Edition recently and seems to be planning to develop many new models to add to the competition in the growing automobile market. We expect the carmaker to unveil the SLC next year during the German F1 Grand Prix and launch it sometime in 2015 with a price speculated to be lesser than the SLS. The new compact SLC will compete with the Porsche 911.
