Tesla has just rolled out the version 8.0 software update that aims to incorporate a number of user interface improvements. The brand admitted that this is the biggest user interface update since the launch of the Model S.
Tesla said that the version 8.0 software update can be downloaded by owners through an over-the-air update, and upgrades to the Autopilot semi-autonomous system helps it work better with the front radar sensors. These sensors scan the road ahead and build a 3D image to aid the system handle highway intersections. To improve safety, Autosteer is now programmed to shut off if the driver ignores in-vehicle warnings.
Changes to the infotainment system includes the ability of the control bar on the maps to fade away when not being used; letting the image use the entire screen. A feature that promises to bring about a lot of convenience is the option to allow for a single downward swipe to begin routing for home or work. With the new update installed, the system promises to be better at recognising and responding to voice commands too. The inclusion of a ‘Cabin Overheat Protection’ feature helps keep the interiors from overheating by letting the air-con automatically switch on to cool the cabin.
