Tesla's Model 3 is already creating waves before it actually goes on sale globally next year. The manufacturer has received 2,53,000 bookings for the car, 180,000 out of which were within 24 hours of its unveiling.
So what is so special about the car and what is the hype all about? Tesla unveiled the new electric car, priced at USD 35,000 (around Rs 23.23 lakh), which will compete with the conventional premium sedans like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE, etc. The car has an upper hand as it’s backed up by zero emission credentials and a high performance. It can sprint from 0-100kmph in under six seconds and has a range of 215miles (346km).
The Model 3 is packed with all the goodies that one can expect from an entry-level premium luxury sedan. The mid-size pure electric sedan is expected to take the brand to a whole new league in the automotive industry. Tesla Motors' CEO Elon Musk officially announced through his twitter handle that the car is already making success stories.
The online orders for the Tesla Model 3 were supposed to begin after the unveil event would kick start, but the company changed the plans foreseeing concerns about their server overloading. The bookings began at 1000USD even before the unveiling and the carmaker received many pre-bookings within no time. Many orders were from India as well. The global deliveries of the LHD variant will start in 2017. As for the Indian market, we can expect Tesla to bring the RHD version by 2018 after the launched in the US and Europe in a phased manner.
