Tesla’s Model S now gets ready for a track performance thanks to the Electric GT championship that promises to get the series underway in 2017.
This track oriented Model S P85 makes 691bhp, runs on a rear-wheel drive system, and comes with a number of track related enhancements like that huge rear wing. There’s also new aerodynamics, a set of bigger and wider tyres, and stripped interiors to shed all that unnecessary weight. While the powertrain is stock, the suspension and steering have been extensively tweaked.
Reports claim that this race prepped vehicle, developed for the new Electric GT championship race series, will be nothing short of an eye opener. Each race is expected to take place on seven famous race tracks around the world, and initially all the cars on the grid will be the Tesla Model S P85. More EVs are slated to join the grid eventually, and each event will have a 20 minute practice session, a 30 minute qualifying session, and two races that cover the length of 60km.
More on the Electric GT championship will be shared in the months to come, so stay tuned!
