The Tesla family will get a new member in the form of the Model 3 which is set to go in to production later this year. We saw the Model 3 as a concept car last year and one of the things that stood out was the minimalistic interiors. That being said, a near production Tesla Model 3 was spotted with no camouflage during its test in California which seemed to be, more or less, designed along the lines of the concept car that spawned it.
Nevertheless, Tesla’s entry-level Model 3 sees a different-styled steering wheel than its concept car. The production ready car gets a three spoke steering wheel instead of the two spoke steering wheel seen in the concept car. The cabin of the Model 3 features a 15 inch screen as the centre console on the dashboard to display the necessary information to the driver. The car will also feature an advanced heads-up display on the windscreen instead of a gauge cluster to show the vital systems of the car. The minimalist design continues with no visible air-ducts on the dashboard. Instead the Model 3 is equipped with an almost invisible slot incorporated into the dashboard.
The exteriors of the Model 3 are subtle and the styling cues aren’t loud. The front features futuristic full LED headlamps but no grille. A glass roof runs all the way from the wind screen to the rear of the car.
The company will put the vehicle in production in July 2017. The manufacturer hasn’t disclosed yet about the capacity of the motor which will power the Model 3, but when it hits the market the Model 3 is expected to have a range of 320km in a single full charge. When launched, the Tesla Model 3 will compete against the BMW 3-series.
