Tesla has just confirmed that its Model 3 is slated to get a performance version. It is believed that this iteration of the Model 3 must be currently under development.
As of now, the best performing Telsa Model 3 is capable of dispatching the 0-100kmph run in 5.1secs before going on to hit a top speed of 225kmph. This hotter version of the Model 3 when introduced will be on the lines of the Tesla Model S P100D.
Elon Musk has told reporters that the sportier Model 3 could probably be introduced by the middle of 2018. He reiterated that the company’s present focus is to first counter concerns related to the production of the Model 3 itself, before adding any more versions to the line-up.
Sources suggest that the Model 3 performance version could get a motor setup which should help the car clock a 0-100kmph time of about 3secs. This is so that it does not cannibalise on the Model S P100D’s 0-100kmph time of 2.5secs. Stay tuned to CarWale for more news on Tesla’s plan for the Model 3 performance version.
