- Brazil debuts this month
- Expected to be offered with flex-fuel petrol engines
Volkswagen will jump onto the compact SUV bandwagon with a new vehicle that is being launched in the Brazilian market this month. It will be Skoda Kylaq rivalling SUV and is expected to make use of the same platform, features and even the powertrains.
The automaker has revealed a few teaser images showing the badging and a brief shot of the front of the car. The rear photo confirms the name while the front indicates that it will the typical Volkswagen family face that the brand is so well known for these days.
In Brazil, the car is expected to be a shade over 4.0 meters while in places like India, it will hover around the 3.95-metre mark to fit in with our compact regulations. The feature list is expected to include things like a 360-degree camera, climate control, LED light package, leatherette upholstery and dual digital screens as a part of the deal.
There is word on powertrains but this being Brazil, we can expect flex-fuel engines which it will share with the T-Cross. The Indian market is expected to be a whole different story. The 1.0-litre 114bhp TSI will be standard while some quarters also suggest that there may be a top-of-the-line sporty version with a 1.5-litre engine and DSG box.
The car is expected to come here in 2026 and will go up against vehicles like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV3XO, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor and of course Skoda Kylaq.
