Cricketing God Sachin Tendulkar plays another flawless straight drive; and this time on the receiving end was the new BMW 1 Series. The car is poised for its launch in India on the 3rd of next month and is targeted at dethroning the Mercedes-Benz A-Class from the luxury hatchback realm.
Tendulkar, who is also the brand ambassador of BMW India, stars in the latest promotional video launched by BMW along with FIA GT1 driver, Armaan Ebrahim. BMW has also commenced online booking for the car where the first 100 customers get the BMW Service Inclusive Plus (a comprehensive maintenance package) as a complimentary feature.
As opposed to the A-Class, BMW has opted to bring the 1 Series via the CKD route enabling them to compete with its German compatriot’s prices. The engines on offer are a 1.6-litre, 138PS, 220Nm petrol motor and a 2.0-litre, 145PS, 320Nm oil burner, both mated to an eight-speed automatic gear box. The 1 Series is expected to be priced at under Rs 24-lakh, enough to create a second thought in the minds of probable A-Class and B-Class customers.>
