Honda has announced its plan to sell its F1 team, due to difficult conditions in the global auto market. Honda purchased the team in 2000, with BAR (British American Racing) as its partners and soon after that it became Honda F1. Rumours are now going around that that the new team principal Ross Brawn might just call his old Ferrari contacts for a new engine supply deal.
Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, the 2008 Honda drivers do not have any confirmation about their 2009 seat. Honda’s statement was as follows “We, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., have come to the conclusion that we will withdraw from all Formula One activities, making 2008 the last season of participation. This difficult decision has been made in light of the quickly deteriorating operating environment facing the global auto industry, brought on by the sub-prime problem in the United States, the deepening credit crisis and the sudden contraction of the world economies.â€
