Tata Motors is all set to launch their new hatchback, the Bolt and compact sedan, Zest, in the Indian market. We have spied the Tata Bolt several times in the past while it was being tested. The car has been spotted again in Pune, this time with the camouflage carrying its name.It is a new strategy Tata's marketing team is following for the promotion of the car.
The Tata Bolt was first unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo along with the Tata Zest compact sedan. It is the B plus segment hatchback car, based on Tata's X1 platform which underpins the Indica Vista hatchback. However, the Bolt gets a complete change in design philosophy and features. It boasts of an aggressive fascia which gets a honeycomb grille, new headlights and bumper. Coming to the rear of the vehicle, a wide chrome grille and stylish LED headlamps can be seen.
The cabin is equipped with premium interiors, electric power steering in place of the Vista's hydraulic unit, modern center console, infotainment system and will house a new audio system that features MapMyIndia GPS, touch screen and voice commands.
The Tata Bolt hatchback will be offered in both petrol and engine options. While the petrol variant of the Bolt is powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron turbo petrol engine, which can churn out 84bhp of power at 5000 rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1750-3500 rpm, the diesel model of the car is powered by a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel mill.
Both the latest offerings from Tata, the Bolt and the Zest, have been in the news since their appearance at Auto Expo 2014 in February. While the Zest will be launched in the coming month, the Bolt is expected to go on sale in the domestic market around the festival season this year.
Tata is leaving no stone unturned in promoting the upcoming cars. They have even launched exclusive websites giving out information and images of the cars. The promotion has further increased through social media accounts like Facebook/Twitter.
