Spotted recently at a dealership in India, Tata’s all-new hatchback, the Zica has now officially arrived. The car has been showcased in all its glory on the brand’s official Twitter handle. The new Zica, in fact, is due for launch in January and will compete with other budget hatchbacks in India.
The Zica looks rather stylish for what is basically a small hatch. It carries forward Tata’s HorizonNext design philosophy with a smiling mesh grille and swept back headlamps. The bumper also gets the mesh treatment with a horizontal bar and chrome surround for fog lamps. The rear meanwhile looks thoroughly modern with striking albeit slightly small tail lamps and a discreet spoiler.
Tata is promising fresh looks and nippy dynamics with the new Zica. The car will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine based on the brand’s Revotron unit as well as a 1.05-litre three cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The latter will be a downsized version of the current 1.4-litre diesel mill on the Indica. The engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox although there could be an AMT version on offer as well.
The new Tata Zica will be seen competing in the crucial budget hatchback segment. This means the competition will be fierce in the form of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Chevrolet Beat.
