While we have been expecting Tata Motors to launch its new hatchback Zica, this month, Tata has suggested a slight change in plans. We will now be seeing this hatchback in February and probably a launch after the 2016 Auto Expo.
In terms of appearance, the Tata Zica has sharp lines and a well-proportioned body. The front features the signature Tata smiling mesh grille with hexagonal elements, the sweptback headlamps are also proportionate. The mesh on the front bumper also comes with hexagonal elements and it also gets a horizontal bar and chrome surround for fog lamps.
On the inside, Tata has equipped the Zica with higher quality interiors, the top-of-the-line variant comes with a Harman-developed eight speaker music system with aux-in, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. The small infotainment display can also be used with the navigation on your connected device. Tata has a tie-up with Map My India for the availability of offline navigation.
Under the hood, the Zica is equipped with a pair of three-cylinder engines, a 1.2-petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. The all-aluminium three-cylinder 1199cc petrol engine produces 83.8bhp and 114Nm of torque while the diesel Zica is powered by a small 1047cc diesel engine which produces 69bhp and a torque figure of 140Nm.
The Zica also gets rear parking sensors with display, two airbags and ABS with EBD as safety equipment. With the Zica, Tata will take on the Chevrolet Beat and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. The Zica will be positioned between the Nano and the Bolt in Tata’s line-up and we expect it to be priced around Rs 3.8 lakh.
