The upcoming Tata Zica has been spotted at a dealership in India revealing the production model of the car due to be launched in December. For a car expected to be positioned in the budget hatchback segment, the Zica looks stylish and premium.
As we had mentioned before, the Zica carries forward the HorizonNext design philosophy with a smiley face mesh grille and swept back headlamps. The bumper gets a wide mesh grille with a horizontal slat and chrome ringed fog lamps. What seems to be a top spec car from the pictures, it gets alloy wheels, turn indicators on the outside rear-view mirrors and also a rear windscreen wiper and defogger. The rear spoiler, with a high-mounted brake light is integrated into the body and will be standard across the range.
Though not much about the interiors is revealed from the pictures, the interiors are all black with fabric upholstery like the Tata Zest and the Bolt. We expect the Zica to get the ConnectNext infotainment system with possibly a touch-screen display from the Tata Bolt for the top spec car. The Zica will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine based on the Revotron and a 1.5-litre three cylinder turbocharged diesel engine downsized from the current 1.4-litre diesel mill on the Indica. The engines will be mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and with the demand for automatic cars rising, it may also get an AMT.
The Zica is expected to compete with the Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Datsun GO and if priced right, it seems to be well equipped to take on the competition.
