Tata may have unveiled the Zest before the public, revealing all the specifications of the car. However, a camouflaged Zest with a revised front profile was spotted testing in the outskirts of Pune which makes us believe that the company might bring some more cosmetic changes to the car before its official launch.
The car under heavy disguise shows the front fascia of the vehicle adorned with a new grille. This one gets two horizontal chrome slats instead of the honeycomb grille seen on the one unveiled before the Auto Expo. The Zest displayed at the Auto Expo also didn’t have these changes. However, a silver-grey coloured Zest that was exhibited at the event had the headlamps with black inserts (seen in this test mule). The LED tail lamps and the design at the rear seem to be unchanged.
The Tata Zest will be made available in both- petrol as well as diesel options. The petrol variant will be powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron engine developed by the company to produce 84bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. The diesel trim is powered by a 1.3-litre Quadrajet motor. Both these are mated to a five-speed manual gear-box with Tata Motors considering the introduction of an AMT transmission as well.
These last minute changes might be the ones that Tata Motors will bring into the production version of the Zest or might bring out a new variant loaded with these features. Stay tuned to CarWale as we bring you more details of the vehicle as they emerge closer to the launch.
