Tata Motors has launched their latest compact sedan, the Zest, in Nepal. The petrol version costs NPR 24.5 lakh (Rs 15.34 lakh) and the diesel variant is priced at NPR 30.75 lakh (Rs 19.25 lakh). The Zest is made in India and is now exported to this neighbouring country. It will be sold through Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd., which is Tata Motors’ distributor in Nepal.
The Tata Zest is a compact sedan that is based on a revised version of the X1 platform which currently underpins the Vista and the Manza. The Zest marks a whole new chapter for Tata Motors in terms of design and technology. The vehicle is developed using inputs from Tata’s design studios in Pune, Coventry in the UK and Turin in Italy. The car boasts of many features like projector headlamps, AMT gearbox etc. that are a segment-first in India.
The Tata Zest, in Nepal, will also be sold in petrol and diesel variants. This means the 1.3-litre diesel and the new Revotron 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be available. While the five-speed manual gearbox will be offered in both the petrol and diesel variants, the revolutionary AMT gearbox will be sold only with the diesel version.
The Tata Zest will compete with the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Hyundai Xcent, which are already on sale in Nepal through different distributors. This new compact sedan from Tata has revamped the image of the brand in India and we hope that it will replicate the success in Nepal as well.
