Since the days of yore Tata commercial vehicles have transported Indians and their freight across India. Tata Group was the fourth largest commercial vehicles manufacturer in 2011, however in 2012, they were at number five. Now, Tata is leaving no stone unturned to be a prominent player worldwide; it is evident from the launch of the Xenon in Australia and now Indonesia. There is a lot of demand for pick-up trucks in Indonesia and Tata wants to capitalise on that.
Tata is selling the Xenon in the Indonesian market through Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI) a subsidiary of Tata Motors Ltd. The Xenon will be available with a 3.0 litre Turbocharged Direct Injection diesel mill churning out 72bhp and 223Nm of torque.
It is the second commercial vehicle to be launched after the Super Ace. The Indonesian-spec Xenon gets features like Power Steering, Left-Foot rest, Mobile Charging and utility spaces. Tata claims it has the longest-in-class body length and it is offered with various payload options to suit all business needs.
The suspension features a two-stage semi elliptical leaf in the rear spring that offers good stability under heavy load at even high speeds. The top speed is 120kmph and Tata claims it has the best-in-class fuel efficiency.
The Xenon can be bought for at Rupiah 138,350,000 (Rs 7.07 lakh) in Indonesia.
