Tata Motors ventured into the sub-four metre compact sedan segment in India with the Indigo eCS, and then the Zest followed. Now, the carmaker is all set to add yet another sub-compact sedan Tigor to their line-up. While the car will be launched only on March 29, you can check out this extensive photo gallery of the production version of the car in the meantime.
Remember the Kite 5 that was exhibited at the 2016 Auto Expo? The Tigor is a production version of the same car.
The Tigor is the latest model from the carmaker's IMPACT design language. It shares its underpinnings with the Tiago and also looks similar to the hatchback.
However, Tata Motors has given the Tigor an extended boot with a notchback kind of styling. The tail lamps are new too.
The front is reminiscent of the Tiago, but this one gets blacked out headlamps with projectors. There are round fog lamps on the bumper with a honeycomb mesh.
The cabin features a touch screen infotainment system with ConnectNEXT and Harman Kardon surround sound system. It supports Bluetooth, USB and Aux-In.
The interior features steering mounted controls and automatic climate control amongst others. It comes equipped with dual-front airbags as a standard along with ABS and EBD.
Tata Motors hasn’t confirmed the boot capacity of the car yet. It is speculated that the boot capacity maybe around 420 litres, which if true, is going to be the best in class.
Furthermore, the powertrain options are same as the Tiago's petrol and diesel engines. Then, there are driving modes similar to the Tiago.
When launched, the Tata Tigor will go up against the Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Hyundai Xcent and even the Volkswagen Ameo in the Indian car market.
