Tata Motors has launched the Tigor in India at a starting price of Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol version. The diesel model of the compact sedan begins at Rs 5.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new Tata Tigor has been developed on the same platform as its sibling, the Tiago and bears similarities in design, interiors and powertrain. As expected, the sub-compact sedan has been designed using the brand's IMPACT Design language but it still sets itself apart from the hatchback with its 'styleback' design. It features projector headlamps with double-barrel layout and blacked-out surrounds which are different from the Tiago. Another highlight is the 419 litres of boot space – the best in its segment.
The engine options are similar to the Tiago with the petrol Tigor getting the 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 84bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. The oil-burner, on the other hand, is powered by the 1.05-litre three-cylinder turbocharged motor that churns out 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while an automatic gearbox model is expected at a later date.
