Tata is all set to launch the Tigor ‘styleback’ in India on March 29th. The Indian carmaker has commenced pre-bookings for the Tigor across all authorised dealership with a booking amount of Rs 5,000. We have driven the car and you can read about it here.
The Tiago-based sub-four-metre sedan was recently unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Taking forward the Tata’s IMPACT design philosophy from the Tiago as well, the Tigor has an extended boot with a notchback kind of styling. The tail lamps are new while the headlamps are blackened out and have projector elements. With regard to dimensions, the styleback measures 3,992mm in length, 1,677mm in width and 1,537mm in height and has a ground clearance of 170mm. The wheelbase of 2,450mm brings in more legroom for passengers.
The Tiago inspiration can be seen on the inside as well. The dashboard and instrument cluster are similar to the Tiago, however, there is a new touch screen infotainment system with ConnectNEXT and Harman Kardon surround sound system. It supports Bluetooth, USB and Aux-In. The cabin comes loaded with features like steering mounted controls and automatic climate control amongst others. The Tigor comes equipped with dual-front airbags as a standard along with ABS and EBD.
The Tigor will be offered with the latest Revotron technology engine options in petrol as well as diesel variants. The petrol variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 84bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. The diesel, on the other hand, gets a Revotorq 1.05-litre engine that generates 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. To enhance the driving experience, the vehicle is offered in two drive modes – Eco and City.
When launched, the Tigor will go up against the likes of Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire or could even rival the premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10. It will be positioned below the Zest and Tata hopes the Tigor will taste similar success to what the Tiago has managed to garner.
