Tata Motors has been extensively testing the JTP version of the Tigor and the Tiago in the country for a while now. While this Indian vehicle manufacturer already launched the Tiago NRG in India yesterday, it will be launching the performance-focused Tiago and Tigor JTP variants in the country sometime in the last quarter of 2018. The cars are being developed under a partnership between Tata Motors with a Coimbatore based company named Jayem Automotives.
Both the cars were last showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo event in the country. The upcoming sporty hatchback will be the first product under the collaboration which is developed by JT Special Vehicles. Along with tweaked styling elements, the car also gets an upgraded suspension system and claims to offer more power. The Tiago JTP gets a revised front end in the form of sportier bumpers with larger air intakes, new fog lamp housing, blacked out headlamps and a JTP badged grille. The car sits on 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with side skirts and contrasting ORVMs. In addition to these, the Tiago JTP gets a diffuser at the rear with a roof spoiler.
Similar upgrades were also seen on the Tigor JTP. Along with similar exterior upgrades, the Tigor JTP also gets upholstered seats, aluminium pedals, eight-inch Harman Kardon audio system and more. Both the cars will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that generates 108bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. The company further claims that the vehicle offers optimised gear ratios for better performance. The standard model produces 84bhp of power and 114Nm of torque.
