Tata’s Tiago hatchback will be launched for the Indian market on April 6. This is the new entry-level vehicle from Tata and will replace the Indica in its passenger vehicle lineup. The car will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines and bookings have already begun with the down payment set at Rs 10,000.
Originally named the Zica, it was rechristened the Tiago just after the 2016 Auto Expo. It embodies Tata’s new IMPACT design philosophy and will later on also spawn a compact sedan currently codenamed Kite 5.
The Tiago will be offered with one petrol and diesel engine. The former uses a 1.2-litre engine producing 84bhp and 114Nm of torque while the diesel is an all-new three-cylinder 1.0-litre unit developing 69bhp and 140Nm. Both the engines only get the option of a five-speed manual transmission sending power the front wheels.
We have already reviewed the car and you can find the link to our first drive as well as video at the bottom of this story. Expect the Tiago to be priced in the range of Rs 3.90 lakh to Rs 4.50 lakh and it will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Chevrolet Beat.
