It was a bit of a lengthy (and sad) day for me as I finally returned our long term Tata Tiago to the Tata service centre last month. It had been a fun-filled eight months and 8000kms with hatchback and now like the lyrics of the song, Lambi Judai, from the Hindi movie Hero, I too was sad at the parting moment. However, not wanting to lie on my bed and let the salty tears spoil the conditioning of my beard, I decided to re-visit (in images) not just my Tiago but also the diesel one that had been under the stewardship of my colleague, Santosh Nair.
The photos that you see have come alive at the hands of our Chief Photographer Kapil Angane and what better way to re-visit both the cars than to find out his thought process behind each of the images. We have selected one image from each of the long term reports and you can find a link to each of the reports at the start of the story.
Tata Tiago Revotron Final Long Term Review Report
We begin with a ‘beauty’ shot of the Tiago (cover photo). Its bright orange hue stands out well in contrast to the elements around it. Further, we normally shoot with clean surfaces around the car. But in this case, the water below has provided a reflective surface and contrasts well with the rest of the composition.

Symmetry is usually not on the list while shooting cars as there very few opportunities to do so. However, this one of those times when it is the other way around. The clearly stencilled fonts as well as the trip computer display add to the overall layout.

In this image, we are once again highlighting the importance of working in the right light. Here we wanted a shot of the dashboard and by getting the right light, we have used natural illumination to highlight various elements of the dashboard.

The gear lever is usually not a place of great attention as it sits in the middle of a dark spot and is one of the most unassuming bits. However, at the right angle, the chrome elements, lines of the gear lever as well as all the numbers clearly stand out.

Our final image aims to highlight the various lines on the rear end of the Tiago. Its bright orange shade complements the lines and from this angle and with this kind of lighting in place we can see the strong shoulder line cutting through the tail lamp and above the Tiago moniker.
