Now, here is some insight into the process of Kapil, our Chief Photographer, shooting the grey diesel Tiago long term car that was used by my colleague Santosh Nair.Â

The picture that you see is a front three-quarter shot of the diesel Tiago shot in the early hours of a hot Mumbai summer day. It has been captured with a shallow depth of field lens and seeks to highlight the lines of the car. The weak sunlight at that hour has illuminated the curves of the hatchback quite well.

In this photo, we wanted to highlight the performance of the seats and thus had to move the car around to bring it into a patch of good lighting. The end result of our endeavour to find the right light is a photo that has brought out texture, curves and softness of the seats.

One of the main selling points of the Tiago is its music system and its ability to integrate your smartphone into the system. So here is a shot highlighting this connection and has been brought out despite so many elements already crowding the picture.

Ah…the ancient but always challenging art of light trail photography. Since this is a city car, we decided to give it an urban feel by placing it in a crowded background which in this case is an apartment block. The trails have been created by fast moving traffic in the background.
