- Cross hatch design
- Not expected to have mechanical changes
- To be offered in the top-of-the-line variants
- Will take on the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X variant for variant
- Also rival entry-level versions of the Ford Freestyle and Mahindra KUV100 NXT
-Debut of touchscreen music system for the Tiago range
Tata will launch the Tiago NRG cross hatchback in India tomorrow. Leaked images of the car that surfaced a few days ago show that this car will get higher ground clearance (as compared to the standard Tiago), black plastic cladding around the lower section and all the body chrome from the standard car will be replaced by black inserts. There’s also faux bash plate elements and a Nexon (esque) black insert on the hatch door.
The interiors have standard features but with orange inserts on the dashboard and centre console. The leaked images indicate that this Tiago NRG will also debut a touchscreen music system for the hatchback. This is the same system found in the Tigor and it is expected to offer the same levels of connectivity.
No mechanical changes are expected and that means it houses a 1.2-litre petrol or 1.05-litre diesel. The former is good for 84bhp/114Nm while the latter produces 69bhp/140Nm. A five-speed manual is standard while the petrol can also be had with a five-speed AMT.
It’s pretty obvious the Tiago NRG will take the fight to the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X, variant for variant, as is the case with their stock counterparts. The standard Celerio and Celerio X have an Rs 9000 price difference variant for variant and it’s expected to be a similar story here too. The top spec NRG will also be in a position to rival the entry-level versions of the Ford Freestyle and Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
