-Performance versions of the Tiago hatchback
-Will be launched alongside a similarly designed version of the Tigor
-Both cars were showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo
-1.2-litre turbo charged petrol engine
-Developed by Jayem Automotive in collaboration with Tata
A hot version of the Tata Tiago has been spied ahead of its launch on October 12. Dubbed the Tiago JTP, it will sit right on top of the hatchback’s pecking order and will be only offered as a top-of-the-line model.
To be honest, there is not much to hide as the car was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo alongside a hot version of the Tigor compact sedan (obviously called the Tigor JTP).
There’s a body kit, bigger than standard alloy wheels, JTP badges, two-tone interiors, touchscreen music system and a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol motor. This engine produces 108bhp/140Nm and is likely to be offered only with a five-speed manual. It will be a similar story with the Tigor too.
In terms of pricing, this hot version of the Tiago is expected to be on par with the mid-level models of cars like the Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grandi10.
