Nearly a year after the introduction of the JTP performance brand, Tata Motors has dropped a teaser about an upgrade for the performance duo. Both the Tigor JTP and the Tiago JTP are set to receive added features as a part of the update.Â
According to reports, these updates would include an upgraded seven-inch infotainment screen compared to the five-inch system currently offered with the pair. Additionally, this system will also come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apart from other connectivity features. Apart from that, the electrically adjustable mirrors will now get an electrically foldable function as well. And the automatic climate control will extend to the hatchback as it is already being offered in the Tigor. Both the JTP models will now match the top-spec variants of the standard car in terms of features and equipment. Safety-wise, the duo will come standard with dual airbags, ABS and EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert and seatbelt reminder for both the driver and front passenger.
In terms of powertrain, there has been no word on any upgrades planned for the high-performance models. Both the cars will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron motor which produces 112bhp and 150Nm. The power is sent to front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. However, it won’t come as a surprise if the carmaker plans to tweak the powertrain to make it even more fun to drive.Â
We might also see a slight bump in prices owing to the added features. Currently, the duo retails at Rs 6.39 lakhs and Rs 7.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated JTP pair is expected to be launched later this month. More details will be revealed in days to come. So stay tuned to CarWale.Â
