Tata Zica hatchback is scheduled for a January 2016 launch to rival the Maruti Suzuki Celerio in the compact hatchback segment. While we will have to wait till December 6 for the first drive report of the hatchback, here is a quick look at the specifications and other details with the official photo gallery.
The Zica uses the typical Tata design philosophy with a signature smiling front mesh grille. The elongated headlamp assembly also looks familiar to previous models.
The front bumper is large and rounded with the similar mesh grille treatment. The oval shaped fog lamp housing here have some chrome treatment.
Even the rear section looks nice with the wrap around tail lamps, single crease running across the boot and a tiny rear spoiler.
Overall, the Zica is larger than the Indica, which it is expected to be phased out in the coming months. The new car also uses the same platform with some modifications.
The interior has lot of elements borrowed from the larger Bolt. The cabin mainly uses the piano black theme and has inserts matching the exterior body colour.
Tata has put in a lot of efforts on the cabin. There are 22 stowage bins in the cabin and the boot is also sizeable at 242 litres.
The Zica will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol unit produces 84bhp and 114Nm and the new 1.05-litre diesel is rated at 69bhp and 140Nm.
The top-end hatchback will get a Harman music system with eight speakers, rear parking sensors, ABS-EBD and dual airbags as part of the standard equipment list.
