Tata Tiago has been accumulating a positive response in the Indian market and is a major contributor to the company’s overall sales. Prior to its official launch, the Tiago AMT test mule has been spotted undergoing test in the country. As seen in pictures, the new variant will not get new design upgrades and the changes will be restricted to new transmission.
The Tiago AMT will help Tata Motors further strengthen its position in the hatchback segment. Reports indicate that the AMT variant will be offered only petrol trim, unlike the manual which is available in petrol as well diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre petrol engine generates 84bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. As for fuel efficiency, reports suggest that the AMT variant returns a similar fuel efficiency figure of 23.84kmpl or slightly higher than the manual petrol version. The vehicle gets a regular shifter that allows you to shift manually as well as offer three drive modes – R, N and D.
The Tiago AMT does not have any direct competitors for now, but as the Celerio AMT comes as closest contender, the competition might get tough. Tata might offer the new Tiago AMT in top-spec variant and on the pricing aspect it is expected to be priced a bit higher than the regular one. More details about the vehicle will be known in the coming days.
