- Tata's first ground-up EV
- Brings back an iconic nameplate
Introduction
Tata Motors had confirmed bringing back the Sierra nameplate by showcasing an EV concept at the last Auto Expo. The carmaker will soon make it a reality by bringing the production version at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo. We expect this electric version to be sold in India by mid-2025 and the ICE derivatives later. Here's all we can expect from the Sierra EV at the upcoming event in January.
Exterior
Showcased at the last Auto Expo, we already had an idea of how the Sierra will look like. Recently, even the production version was spotted on test hinting that there are not many changes to its styling.
However, the designs of the Sierra EV and its ICE version will differ slightly, with the EV featuring unique styling elements. Also, the large rear glass of the original Sierra has not been retained but only replicated in terms of design and styling.
Interior
The Sierra EV is expected to be the most feature-packed modern vehicle from Tata Motors. As a result, it will be packed with a host of modern features including a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and dual-zone climate control. Moreover, it will feature a Level 2 ADAS suite and maybe a twin infotainment set-up.
Powertrain
The new Sierra EV is expected to be based on the brand's Acti.EV platform. The latter allows the carmaker to have the option to offer it in all-wheel-drive (AWD) and rear-wheel-drive (RWD). Currently, Tata Motors has not yet revealed the battery specs. Still, the Sierra EV is likely to come with single- and dual-motor configurations, delivering a range of approximately 500km on a single charge.
