Tata Motors will launch the much-awaited (and much-delayed) Safari Storme tomorrow. Tata Motors had unveiled this SUV at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo in January. The new SUV based on the Aria platform will be sold in India alongside the current model.
The Safari Storme has undergone a facelift but retains the same boxy old-school SUV looks from the existing model. The SUV will use the same 2.2-litre DiCOR turbodiesel engine present in the current Safari DiCOR and the Aria. It will generate around 140bhp and 320Nm of torque, but is expected to be more fuel efficient than the current Safari. This version will also get four-wheel drive, with a toggle switch which can be used on the fly, like Mitsubishi’s ‘Super Select’ system.
The pricing is expected to be lower than the XUV500, and much closer to the prices of the top-end diesel Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio.
