The facelifted Tata Safari Storme has been spied testing yet again, this time without any camouflage whatsoever. The absence of the camo reveals a rather discreet makeover as far as the exterior design is concerned. Except for the new Land Rover-inspired grille at the front, the exterior remains identical to the current model.
This will be the first update the Safari Storme will get since its launch in the Indian market in 2012. Inside, the most speculated upgrades to the interior include an all-new colour tone for the dashboard besides a slightly upgraded layout for select buttons and knobs. Front facing captain seats in the third row instead of the present side-facing seats are also on cards for the facelifted model.
The Safari is currently powered by the 2.2-litre VariCOR diesel engine that produces 140bhp of power. The engine is likely to be upgraded to 150bhp of power and 320Nm like in the new Aria. The motor will continue to be mated to the existing 5-speed manual transmission while there is a possibility that Tata might equip it with an automatic unit.
The facelifted Safari Storme is expected to go on sale sometime during the middle of 2015. When launched, it will go up against the heavily revised Mahindra Scorpio.
