The Tata Safari Storme facelift has been launched in the Indian market for Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is being offered in three variants and five colour options. The facelift includes mechanical and cosmetic changes.
External cosmetic changes include a honeycomb grille for the radiator and air dam as well as a tweaked front bumper. On the inside, the Storme gets a black dashboard with silver accents and the same three-spoke steering wheel from the Zest and Bolt.
The EX and VX variants get a Harman-developed integrated audio system with Bluetooth, AUX, USB as well as steering -mounted controls. The LX can also be had with sandstone beige interiors. The EX and VX can be had in a seven seat configuration while the LX is only available in a five seat configuration. On the safety front, only the VX variant gets airbags while the EX adds ABS to the equipment list. The top spec VX variant also gets reverse parking camera with sensors.
Mechanically, the Storme will continue to be powered by the 2.2-litre four-cylinder Varicor engine that has now been tuned to produce 148bhp and 320Nm of torque. The five-speed manual is standard across all three variants but the shift-on-the-fly 4X4 option is being offered only with the VX variant. It has an ARAI-specified fuel efficiency of 14.1kmpl.
The Tata Safari Storme competes in the Indian market with the Mahindra XUV500, Nissan Terrano and the Renault Duster.
