Tata has launched a new Explorer Edition for the Safari Storme at Rs 10.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The limited edition comes with a number of added cosmetic editions which include decals and a prominent front nudge guard.
Other additions include a 2-DIN touchscreen infotainment unit with on-screen reverse parking assist and leather seat upholstery. On the exterior, the additions include chrome garnish for the projector headlamps and tail lamps, door visors and optional additions like cycle carrier, cargo basket and a roof-mounted canopy.
The limited edition is based on the EX variant of the standard Safari Storme, and so will include a similar feature list apart from the additions. This implies that it will be powered by the 2.2-litre Varicor turbocharged engine that puts out 150PS and 320Nm torque. The pricing announced is for the 4x2 variant, but our sources reveal that a 4x4 variant will also be on offer the prices for which have not been revealed yet.
A limited edition run is a sensible one for the Storme which has seen a considerable drop in its sales over the past few months despite growing demand for SUVs in the country. The decals do look a tad flashy but will help the limited edition to stand out but beyond that added features like park assist, navigation device and touch screen does make a case strong enough to sway one’s decision to buy a Storme over its competitors.
