Tata Motors has released an official sketch of the upcoming new Kite hatchback a week after they teased the new car in the Lionel Messi commercial. The sketch reveals the bold lines and aggressive styling for the Kite.
The Kite toes the HorizonNext line of design with the new-age Tata mesh grille and sleek swept back headlamps that resemble the Tata Bolt, Zest and the latest Hexa MPV concept. The Kite is based on the Indica platform and will also be available in a compact sedan avatar replacing the Indica and the Indigo CS for the private car market. Tata may continue selling the Indica and the Indigo CS for the taxi and fleet-cars market to differentiate the new product line from the cab market.
The Kite carries forward almost nothing form the Indica, not even the engines. The Kite will feature a new set of engines, a three-cylinder petrol based on the 1.2 Revotron but without a turbocharger and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel scaled down from the 1.4-litre four-cylinder oil burner.
The Kite hatchback is expected to be launched next month and will compete against the Maruti Celerio and the Hyundai i10.
