Tata is seeing a rush in bookings for the Safari Storme even before its official launch in Delhi on October 17. According to the Safari Storme twitter page (which for some reason has now been suspended), Tata has got a good number of bookings for SUV despite no word from them on the price, variants or features being offered.
We spoke to a few Tata dealers and were informed that the Safari Storme can be booked for a token amount of Rs 50,000. The dealers also confirm that the deliveries of the Storme are expected begin about a week before Diwali.
The all-new Safari Storme while retaining the boxy old school SUV look has undergone a major facelift resulting in revisions to the design and various components. The new SUV based on the Aria platform will use the same 2.2-litre Dicor turbo diesel engine present in the current Safari Dicor and its sibling. It will produce around 140bhp and 320Nm of torque, but is expected to be more fuel efficient than the current models. Needless to say that this version will also get four-wheel-drive, with toggle switch which can be used on-the-fly.
The pricing is expected to be marginally lower than the XUV500, its main rival, and much closer to the prices of the top-end diesel Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio. Stay tuned to Carwale for all the details from the launch. You can also read about the Storme in our upcoming cars section.
